We had an excellent experience with Uzi Shmueli of American Services of Tennessee and his entire work crew for our screen porch addition. Any home improvement project a homeowner decides on is a major decision, you do your due diligence, get several quotes and there will always be a high and low estimate. If you haven’t hired a contractor before don’t focus on asking yourself “why is this quote so high?” The question you need to dig deeper into is “why are these other quotes so low?” Can you get a cheaper addition, probably; however, if you do go with a prefabricated or low cost addition, how well do you think that will handle the wind storms we have here in Tennessee? If you think it’s a lot of money to have built once, why would you want to do it twice? Other companies we requested information from (if they even came out) recommended a floating foundation or bolting the 4x4 post into the patio with basic joists and off the shelf pressure treated wood floors. American Services isn’t cutting corners to get things done cheap and fast. Look through the photos I have posted - Our posts were 6x6s - Post were set in deeper than 3’ - The joists are 12” - The flooring is cut one length (no seams) and I’m hard pressed to find a single knot in any of the floorboards - The shingles were researched to get the exact brand and style as the ones on our home - The paint was matched to our house - Skylights with remote controls - Thick marine grade screens for the windows - Copper capped deck railing posts - Seamless gutter - Multiple outdoor outlets on each wall - Thick marine grade screening attached under the flooring so no bugs can enter from underneath American Services and Uzi’s team of professionals can complete your project within your budget. Well, American Systems LLC has done it again! In less than 30 days, our back yard was transformed into an amazing screened in porch. Uzi Shmueli (owner) is a man with a plan. My husband and I purchased our 1969 ranch house 11 years ago and promptly began major renovations to suit our needs as an empty nester couple with 3 horses, 2 dogs and 4 cats. The only room that we didn't touch was an old sunroom that a previous owner had added at sometime in the past. Unfortunately, that room was unbearably hot in the summer and unbearably cold in the winter, so it was basically unusable for much of the year. The seals on the old windows were cracked and clouded and the room had a shed roof that not only leaked, but limited our view of our beautiful acreage. I thought that a new sunroom would finally complete our renovations and make our forever home feel more like a vacation home. We got started interviewing contractors and American Services of TN was one of our candidates. As soon as we met with Uzi, he was giving us ideas and a vision of how beautiful our sunroom could be. I also had a screened-in porch on my wish list, but I didn't think it was possible to do because of an old existing deck and complicated rooflines in the back of the house. I mentioned to Uzi that I would dearly love a screened porch but didn't think it was feasible. He took this to heart and came up with a plan that included demolishing the old sunroom and deck and building a new sunroom, deck and screened porch from scratch!! I realized that this was absolutely the right approach to take in order to get what we wanted! And I was not disappointed! I had no idea that everything I wanted was not only feasible (which other contractors had said was not), but Uzi and his crew made it happen!! His workers are excellent at what they do; conscientious about our property, and were willing to answer questions and take suggestions. Uzi was on-site quite often to view progress and answer all our questions. He was excellent with his communication of what was going to happen and when. After getting 5 different estimates to replace my 16x20ft 20-year old rotten deck, I selected Uzi and American Renovation and Services. Uzi and his team surpassed all my expectations in quality and workmanship! We decided on a screened-in covered deck, so that we can enjoy sitting outside even in the heat of summer, without bugs. Uzi had the best design concept of all the estimates, and included items that the other companies would not have without a greater price…electrical outlets, stone wall, sky lights, and enclosed under-deck. The entire support structure is extremely solid, well-built…all posts are 6”x6” bolted to a 2”x12” main frame installed in 80lbs of concrete footers. Posts installed next to house are free standing for better strength. The joists are 2”x10”, bolted to mainframe, and girder installed in center to create shorter joint spans. Uzi was very responsive and has his own comprehensive team of framers, electrician, and roofing experts.
